Job Summary:
Canterbury Park is looking for outgoing, hard-working and creative individuals to join our part-time promotions street team to perform as costume character /guide during on-site and off-site promotional events. The right candidate must be professional and a team player with customer focus. Must be able to work days/evenings/weekends and handle the demands of working in full body costume.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Represent Canterbury Park, as our Mascot, at a variety of events on-site and off-site throughout the summer such as; community events, fairs, concert venues, tradeshows, and Pepsi Family Day - keeping Canterbury Park's brand in mind at all times.

Responsible for the overall look and feel of Canterbury Park's presence at events; including sign placement, location and interactions with fans, customers and clients.

Responsible for the safe care and cleanliness of Canterbury Park's mascot suit .

Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications:
Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Must be adaptable, versatile and tactful in dealings with the public
Outgoing, enthusiastic, and dedicated individual
The ability to learn quickly and work well under pressure is essential
Must be reliable, punctual and courteous
Must have the ability and desire to be creative, zany and fun-loving
Must be able to attain an MRC license

Preferred Qualifications:
Pursuing or has acquired a 2 or 4 year degree in advertising, marketing, graphic design, communications or journalism or equivalent experience in a similar industry
Past experience in a mascot type role would be helpful
Customer Service experience a plus
General knowledge of horse racing

Maintain a flexible working schedule, which may include nights and weekends during the live race season May – September. Must be available Sundays.
Able to handle the demands of working in full body costume: i.e. work in very hot conditions, move "freely" with limited peripheral vision in an oversized costume required. Weight must be proportionate to height, to be able to fit in required costume.
Requires frequent standing or walking
Requires working outdoors in all weather conditions
Requires working indoors in a sometimes smoking environment
Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds
Requires frequent wrist and hand use
