Job Summary:
The primary purpose of this position is to greet and assist Canterbury Park guests, park and retrieve their vehicles, and be a visible representative of Canterbury Park while delivering a high level of customer service. Highly tipped position!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Greet arriving and departing guests, open vehicle doors, and offer assistance as needed. 
  • Park vehicles in assigned spaces in a safe and efficient manner and ensures security before returning to the office.
  • Scrape ice and remove snow before returning vehicles to customers.
  • Issue preferred and valet tickets to patrons and fills ticket info in as needed
  • Scan MVP cards for free or discounted service, accept valid coupons, accurately charge fees, count back change and process all payment types through register.
  • Complete accurate daily shift and tip deposits.
  • Control security of valet lot and equipment by restricting access to non-employees.
  • Read daily Group Sales Forecast along with Canterbury Park promotions/events information and relay that information to guests.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of valet/preferred lots and main building entrance by picking up trash and shoveling and salting sidewalks as needed 
  • Complete various department logs for daily operations.
  • Manage coat check.
  • Process accurate sales of programs, forms and gift shop merchandise daily.
  • Assist customers by calling for taxi service as requested.
  • Provide shuttle service to and from local hotels on specified days.
  • Organize and keep accurate inventory of all valet keys.
  • Perform jump-starts as needed for valet and preferred customers. 
  • Report and complete accident/incident reports for any and all damage to vehicles and or Canterbury Park equipment or property immediately.
  • Update daily pricing signage in all locations as needed.
  • Respond to customer concerns & assist in resolution.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Supervision:

  • None

Required Qualifications:

  • Must have a good driving record, valid driver's license for a minimum of one year, and general automobile knowledge.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to drive a manual transmission.
  • Ability to interact with guests and co-workers in a professional manner.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment. 
  • Must be able to pass Canterbury Park's pre-employment screening which includes a criminal background check, verification of work history, Drug Screening, and Canterbury Park's Safe Driving Policy.
  • Must be able to attain a Minnesota Racing Commission (MRC) license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Previous customer service experience.

  • Maintain a flexible working schedule, which may include nights and weekends during the live race season May – September.
  • While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, and run throughout assigned shift. 
  • Requires frequent stooping, twisting or bending.
  • Requires working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
